STAGE 2: Shay Elliott Cycle

This cycle stage will bring you over one of the most iconic climbs in Ireland; the Shay Elliott Climb.  (To find out more about Shay Elliott, the first irishman to wear the Tour De France yellow jersey and the annual international Shay Elliott memorial cycle race, click here).

You will also have to ford a stream and cycle over rocky mountain roads on the climb, so this is not one for lightweight road racing tyres.You have a number of bike and tyre choices here. Do you go for durability with a winter training tyre (eg. Gatorskin or Armadillo) and cycle through? Maybe stick with a full road race setup and run through it. Maybe even use a mountain bike with front suspension for comfort. The choice is yours!

Stage 3: River Run and Obstacle Course

Now comes the fun bit: crawl your way through muddy netting, clamber over straw bales, don a life jacket and plunge into the river. Then wade, paddle or swim your way to the finish!
